I’ve really been surprised by the weather over here in England - there’s been a lot of sunshine and very little rain!! It was quite a warm day at Lord’s against the MCC and a nice game to open our tour with. The boys played well to win that game, and it was good to get a win under our belts early on; it was also tremendous to catch up with some greats of the game like Brian Lara and Sourav Ganguly. However, our focus was very much on the matches against the Australians and I really enjoyed competing against the Aussies, and was happy with my performance in the field and with the ball.

Am working all the time on improving my all round game. I felt no pain from the muscle tear in my side, and am glad to have got the tour off to a good, positive, winning start. Was very pleased at the way the boys fought and never gave up. Pleasing to see Umar Gul back and taking wickets again. I’ve really enjoyed the time spent here in the UK so far, the warmth of the fans is what we’ve come to expect of our Pakistan supporters over here. However, the noise of the horns at Edgbaston was a bit of a surprise, it reminded me of the now infamous Vuvuzela’s which were constantly blown at the FIFA World Cup in South Africa! Keep blowing your horns and keep supporting the men in green, we will play our best possible cricket and fight every inch of the way…. that I will guarantee.
